The little Electric/Steel-type Pokémon, Togedemaru, is finally getting a shiny variant in Pokémon GO. This Alola-region favorite shows off its rust-colored spikey coat on top of the usual shiny Pokémon sparkle. Furthermore, since it's a relatively common Pokémon, Togedemaru should be easy to catch in bulk. Whether hunting a shiny or using one for battle, Togedemaru will always make a great Pokémon GO buddy.
Known as the Roly-Poly Pokémon in the Pokedex, Togedemaru is used for its Electric/Steel-typing. It shares this dual typing with the Magnemite line. However, since it is smaller in stature and in stats than the Magnemite line, consider using it for the Little Cup, Great League, and maybe the buddy Pokémon.

Pokémon GO: Every Pokémon You Can't Trade (& Why)
Pokémon GO allows players to trade Pokémon, which effectively transfers them to others. Pokémon GO does not allow players to trade back, though.
How To Get Shiny Togedemaru In Pokémon GO
Catch This Sparkling Rodent
Togedemaru will make its shiny debut in Pokémon GO on July 25, 2024, as part of the Ultra Unlock: Strength of Steel event.
Other than encountering them in the wild, the best way to find a shiny Togedemaru during this event will be to spin PokéStops and complete Field Research tasks. Once the given task has been completed, you'll have a chance of encountering Togedemaru with a 100% catch rate. Pokémon cannot flee from a Research task encounter, making it perfect for you to use your regular Poké Balls without worrying about them running away.
There will also be a Togedemaru One-Star Raid Boss. Use a Ground, Fire, or Fighting-type Pokémon to successfully solo this Raid Battle.
Togedemaru Typing & Moves
Shocking Steel
Togedemaru is an Electric/Steel-type Pokémon. This means that its best moves are super-effective against Water-, Flying-, Ice-, and Rock-type Pokémon. It also means you need to be careful when sending it out against Fire, Fighting, and Ground-type Pokémon. Furthermore, it can resist Poison, Flying, and other Steel-type damage by 61%, according to Pokemongameinfo.io.
Electric-type and Steel-type moves taught to Togedemaru will get a Same-Type Attack Bonus (STAB) which is ideal for countering Pokémon that are weak to these move types. You can see all of Togedemaru's moves below:

Togedemaru Team Compositions For Great League
A GO Battle League Star
Togedemaru can shine in the GO Battle League with its unique typing in Pokémon GO. It has a max of 2,160, making it very viable for the Great League if it's under 1,500 . Consider teammates for Togedemaru who can take a hit from Fire, Fighting, or Ground-type moves.
For example, Quagsire or Swampert are excellent choices if available because they resist or are neutral to these attacks and have significant bulk in their defense stats. If this is the Pokémon you choose to help Togedemaru's weaknesses, make sure to bring a Fire-type Pokémon as well, like Ninetales, so that a pesky Grass-type Pokémon can't take out Quagsire or Swampert.
