I don't think it is misleading. The comfort isn't only in the nice and/or funny parts, it is mostly in how they come together again even after the traumatic parts. The show portrays a more realistic view of relationships and life than a Hallmark movie or a comedy, giving us hope and comfort that things can work out in the end.
