I genuinely thought RTD could capture lightning in a bottle twice. It's just been one long preachfest though. I really did want the show to try and recapture some of it's old glory but it's clear T.Davies is out of steam.

With the talk of Meryl Streep as Aslan it's become a possibility that they (the producers and Gerwig) either don't truly understand the essence of the Narnia stories or they want to wilfully destroy it and remake it in their own empty hollow progressive image much as happened with Star Wars, Doctor Who, Star Trek etc. etc. My money is on the latter.

Every single place in ROP is so 'diverse' that everyone ultimately lacks identity, flavour and culture. It's just one homogeneous bland mass. The exact opposite of what Tolkien wrote.

I'm not worried about it at all. Rings of Power is like some awful fan fiction that just didn't truly get Tolkien nor respect it. It became harder and harder to slog through the inanity of it. Honestly ROP deserves to be cancelled more than Wheel of Time.

The writing on the wall is always there when a show like Who goes too meta and has characters constantly being self aware that they're in a TV show. It's taking it away from the heart it once had.

I have a strange feeling that they don't seem to have the rights to show the traditional monsters hence we've had 'ordinary everyday human bloke' Davros and zero Daleks and Cybermen. I wonder if it something to do with not allowing Disney rights to them which they would have if they're co-producing. RTD is giving some waffle as an excuse for none of the favourites appearing.
