After Thunderbolts*'s Disappointing Box Office, The Next 4 MCU Movies Are All Guaranteed Heavy Hitters
when they focus on the popular characters hulk is the only time they've ever been let down. when they focus on the lesser known characters with the exception of Captain marvel which was successful because of a marketing ploy that insinuated it was important to endgame and of course the guardians of the Galaxy. they've had middling returns at best usually they lose money
Marvel's Thunderbolts* es Major Box Office Milestone In Just Two Weeks
one thing that should be made clear it's not 360 to 450 to be profitable. it's 450 just break even. shocking how few writers know this. this should be common knowledge to them. studios keep about half of the box office and contrary to popular belief advertising doesn't double the budget. as a matter of fact nowadays between fewer middlemen, social media (a big trailer drop costs virtually nothing and can accumulate 200 million views) viral marketing campaigns and the fact that a lot of studios do in-house advertising now. not to mention they always padded their books so that they didn't have to pay out quite as much of the profits to investors. 2.5 times the budget is pretty accurate guesstimate of what a movie has to make at the box office just to break even. 3 times is considered successful. this of course is for technical blockbusters as movies get less expensive less goes into advertising percentage wise
The Expanse Creator Says The 'Greatest Superhero Movie Ever Made' Belongs To Marvel, But Isn't Part of The MCU
This is a respectively popular opinion that immediately tells you someone doesn't know superhero movies and or simply follows what popular culture tells them to think. Spider-Man 2 is the only superhero movie I can think of where the hero doesn't win a single fight against the big bad and the big bad ends up saving the day as opposed to the hero. Movie should have been called Dr octopus. There's nothing to hope for here there's nothing to inspire you just a hero trying to keep it together while I get some beat all over the place. There's a reason this was the least financially successful Superman of the original 3.
Marvel Just Apologized for Spider-Man 3's Emo Hero In the Best Way Possible: "No One Likes Emo Peter"
no one who mattered had a problem with this movie or peter. until no way home it was the most successful Spider-Man at the box office and home video (adjusted for inflation and changed in streaming vs video rental considered). emo peter required no apology and the only people who thought it did only think so because they dont have an opinion of their own and they misunderstood a meme to not only hold more impact than they do but also to be taken as a serious criticism
I've Said It Before And I'll Say It Again - Avengers: Endgame Destroyed The MCU
It would be difficult for you to be more wrong but you could try. the reason the original films succeeded (assuming its generally well made) is because they were a-list characters. a list characters are a list of characters for a reason. they're interesting characters, the characters they've moved on to are not. this is why movies like Spider-Man no way home did really well post endgame but movies like the marvels don't. I'm oversimplifying it quite a bit but this is the gist of why the articles are wrong what it's missing and what you are missing. The other comment here about fat Thor smart hulk Captain marvels unnecessary presence also has a good point
