See AllIf Marvel Is Serious About MJ's New Love Interest, Spider-Man Fans Are About to Rise Up
I mean, the relationship between Host and Symbiote has (ittedly infrequently) been shown to be romantic or semi-romantic. Flash and Venom were partners, and Eddie and Venom were definitely in some form of love.
It's hard not to see the interaction as Flash reminiscing about "the one that got away," meaning Venom. I'd see this more as a sign of Flash wanting to get back together with his old Symbiote - which would, at the moment, force MJ to take on another symbiote. Honestly, if the ran ended with MJ even angrier at a reunited Flash-Venom, and equipped with the Anti-Venom symbiote, that could be a very interesting new status quo for her. Spend a run warming her up to Venom, only to tear it all away at the last second and reinforce the idea that she was wrong to ever trust it.
X-Men Has a Rather Big Beast Problem, But It Won't Be Fixed Anytime Soon
I'm happy with Marvel bringing in the original intended origin for Nightcrawler, finally, after 30 years.
When it was decided that Nightcrawler would be Mystique's son, his parents were going to be Mystique and Destiny. It's about damn time Marvel respected Nightcrawler's true origin, something many fans were clamouring for for years.
The idea that Mystique and Destiny would be Nightcrawler's parents is older than the character of Azazel by about 10 years, minimum.
Superman Has Lost One of the Things That Made Him Great, So Please - Bring It Back
Interestingly, this isn't the first time somebody has raised this "suggestion;" for a period that seemed to end around the 90s, DC Editorial insisted that Superman had to be the Last Son of Krypton, the only Kryptonian in comics. If you're wondering why Supergirl was splattered by Doomsday in the Death of Superman arc, it's because at the time, Supergirl wasn't Kara Zor-El; she was a shapeshifting goo alien called Matrix, as part of this push.
It's easily arguable that Superman is still the Last Son of Krypton despite the presence of all these other Kryptonians. After all, he is Krypton's Last Son. The last child born on Krypton. It's part of why he and Kara work so well; he's the Last Son, the first representative of Krypton on Earth, but he doesn't know the culture. Kara grew up with it. Clark mourns a Krypton he never got to know; Kara mourns the Krypton she lost.
Failing everything else, there's a lot of Kryptonian (and Kryptonian-Adjacent) characters still in DC, and what would you do with them? Especially the popular ones. Supergirl was so popular in the 80s/90s, they couldn't get rid of her, they had to find a workaround to keep Supergirl without her being a Kryptonian. Now there are so many more, I dread to think how they'd handle that.
Ultimately, Superman isn't Kal El, not really; he's Clark Kent. Krypton isn't a significant part of his heritage; the Kents are. He may not be a human being, but he is incredibly Human; that's the point. If anything, introducing more Kryptonians with Kryptonian cultural traits only serves to emphasise this, and show how Human he is. It's also part of why his arch-nemesis is a human with an utter disdain for his fellow man; Lex may be a Human Being, but there's almost something inhuman about his pursuit of power.
X-Men Is Done Ignoring the Worst Part of Nightcrawler's Powers: "I Don't Wanna Be Mean"
I mean, the original idea came from Claremont back in the 80s when he first dropped hints that Mystique was Kurt's mother (Uncanny X-Men 141, 1980)
So there was 5 years with no real ancestry (after Giant-Size X-Men in 1975), then 14 years until the Mystique relationship was confirmed (X-Men Unlimited Volume 1 Issue 4, 1994). The connection to Azazel's only been around since 2003 (Uncanny X-Men 428), nine years later - Azazel as a character has only been around for about half the time since Claremont first came up with Mystique and Destiny as Nightcrawler's parents. I don't think limiting the connection to a father who's only been in comics for less than half the time Nightcrawler's been around diminishes Kurt's story; if anything, the story with Azazel diminishes Mystique's character as a master manipulator, getting conned and charmed as easily as she did. I'm just happy to see a creator's original vision finally get realised after all this time.
