I tried, and I *REALLY* tried. Episode after episode and it never got (IMO) the quality of TNG, DS9, VOY, and even ENT. I was a blank slate and a really disappointed one.

So no. If that means rewatching nothing but 7 seasons of DVDs, [best Kruge voice]: "Then that's the way it shall be!"

I'm pretty okay with this. Never could warm up to Flat Face or her character, so not phased at all that she's gone. She didn't push her hair back behind her ear often enough.

What is it that we are ULTIMATELY "paying for" when using currency.

Answer: ENERGY.

You pay for the energy required to initiate, produce, manufacture, climate control, and transport whatever it is.

What happens when/if Energy were to *become free*? The humans are so programmed and indoctrinated that they can't grasp the concept. It literally locks up their brains into a standstill; "A WORLD WITHOUT *MONEY*?!?!?" [clutches pearls with both paws]

It's too far deviated from Roddenberry's vision/version of the future for my liking.

Once you dump his vision of the future in favor of your own, it's no longer Star Trek no matter how many times you slap a delta on it or say "warp drive".

This monumental failure in knowing why canon *is* important to this particular franchise is part of this author's problem. And it IS a problem.

It sounds like a sopa opera is more in line with what they like to snuggle up with and consume.

The In-verse explanation I've heard over the years that I like and seems plausible, is that since the Romulans initially didn't have warp drive (refer to "Balance of Terror"), part of the treaty between Empires was a technology swap; the Klingons gave them warp drive in exchange for the cloaking device.

Obviously both sides regret making deal since they aren't in the best of anymore.
