There's an important distinction between "great TV shows" and "shows that can change your life" -- and the latter is based on what they actually have to SAY about the world we live in. So many of these titles keep popping up on my radar. If the ones I haven't seen yet are anything like the ones I have, then they're the kind of stories we absolutely need right now.

Right. Starfleet knew Voyager was in the Delta Quadrant thanks to the Doctor in "Message in a Bottle". One month later, DS9's "One Little Ship" airs, so by that point, Starfleet already knows about Voyager (because of the Doctor), and it's reasonable to assume they're actively researching ways to bring them home. What part is false?

Janeway certainly isn't the first female starship captain chronologically, but she is the first woman who's the lead character in a Star Trek show -- in other words, "Star Trek's first leading female captain."
