I didn't know about frieren until after I read an article about how it was in the running for a reward.

After reading that article I then proceeded to go binge watch all of it... at once. It was really really good, that said I'm not going to pretend that it was any better or worse than watching jinwoo fight Beru at the speed of light depicted in a way I had never thought of before, the intensity of solo leveling was a level up.

Saying one is better than the other though would be a moot point as everyone has their favorites and its because of an article I was looking up on solo leveling that I got to be introduced to another favorite new anime, people put way to much stock in "of the year" titles if you ask me, both animes were top notch, but solo leveling won somehow, hopefully we get more of both.
