Superman Returns
The movie was fine. Jesus Christ, man. There are worst comic book superhero movies than Returns. There are some truly breathtaking shots and sequences in this movie.
Obviously, the whole plane sequence was great. Zero gravity part was interesting.
At the end of the movie after in the hospital the nurse checks on Superman sees he has flown out of the window we pan across and see the Metropolis city line slowly change into a bookshelf and we are in Lois’s office at home. Fucking beautiful.
Like the Superman pulling the both halves of the broken ship out of the sea with the camera pulling out to reveal this awesome sight.
Brandon Routh was good in it. Although I thought his Clark Kent was better than his Superman, some of his facial expressions are funny. Later he actually did a better job in the CW Crisis crossover.
Spacey was good too except he was a little too much like Hackman where there are parts where he’s played for laughs. And I didn’t like Kate Bosworth as Lois. She just didn’t have that spunk and effervescence like she should.
Felt like they needed another go with the script on this one. The concept of Superman leaving Earth and coming back to a darker, more cynical world than he left it was a great idea but that isn’t explored enough and whether or not Superman II is canon is really ambiguous. The way they comb through and pick bits and pieces of what they wanted bothered me and seemed a bit indecisive creatively.
True Superman doesn’t fight anyone but that’s fine Superman isn’t Batman he doesn’t go out beating up criminals he is a protector and public servant. The non violent means of Superman are evident in the big robbery sequence where the John Corbin guy unloads that Gatling gun unsuccessfully finally resorting to shooting Supes where the bullet bounces off his eye. The criminal has no choice but to surrender after that. And I love that idea, the idea of the unstoppable force meeting the unmovable object.
That is not my diatribe. I do not

The Dark Knight Rises Almost Used A Different Batman Villain Before Bane & I'm Glad They Didn't
Bane was Bruce’s dark half essentially. That’s what made him work. The movie was more allegorical and mythical than the other two.
The Flash Director Addresses Why The DC Movie Bombed At The Box Office And Blames Audiences, Especially Women, Not Being Interested In The Character
It’s not that no cared about the Flash character the problem is no one cared or liked Ezra Miller. And it was barely a Flash movie to begin with and it carried a lot of bad baggage with the whole DCEU thing and the extremely bad CGI. It wasn’t just one thing.
