I totally feel you on this point. In my head, I always just told myself that maybe Skynet had figured out how to create some sort of "biometal" or maybe it's something to do with the ground potential of human skin. I dunno, and I wish it was FLESHED OUT a little more (hahahahahaha)... but T2 was dropped in 1991, back when nobody seemed too worried about continuity.

Also........ Actually, if anything, the T-1000 itself was the contradiction.... in Terminator, Kyle Reese establishes several times that living tissue was necessary to time travel.... sssooo the article author is actually keeping with original canon here.
