I realize this is old and also a review of the trailer and not the movie but maybe this article assignment would have been better suited to someone actually familiar with Shadow's character and the fact that Sonic 3 was clearly an adaptation of Sonic Adventure 2 from jump - Shadow has never been evil, he's always gone from antagonist to ally over his introductory storyline in every media he's introduced into, and these plotlines aren't coming from nowhere. The movie ended up rocking despite and because of the fact that it didn't rely on shocking long time fans, by the way.
