See All8 Things I Learned Watching Supernatural For The First Time In 2024
There's a little more to the story. I subscribe to Supernatural - Then and Now - a rewatch podcast where each episode is discussed (they have a new release every week) - by the actors who played Gabriel (Rich Speight Jr.) and Chuck (Rob Benedict), and they routinely have writers, actors, guest stars, music and VFX of the Supernatural cast and crew to talk about the show. The first 2 episodes included interviews with Jared and Jensen when they discussed the Pilot and Wendigo. There was an episode where they had one of the execs, Robert Singer, on the podcast and he mentioned that when Supernatural first started, there was no such thing as streaming online, and the only music licensing they had was only for TV and DVDs. Streaming came along many years later and really only saw its peak when covid hit. As a result, as the licenses were already in place and it would have been ridiculously expensive to repurchase 15 seasons of songs again, and no studio would pay for that since the show had finished. I have the original DVD box set with all the good music. I would get them if you can, because most of the music is different on Netflix apparently.
