My thoughts are that getting rid of Xavier(which is just ridiculous)is much easier for them than actually having to write a series of events that means something or makes sense at least in the X-Men and/or Marvel universe.

Though what TWD ended up being may have been the ending and series that the fans deserved....realistically the original ending is probably closer to what a real life zombie apocalypse would look like.Granted,television is not real life and that gave Kirkman the elbow room he needed to please the fans.
