See AllPredator: Killer Of Killers Review — I Can't Believe This Is Our First Predator Movie After The Masterpiece That Was Prey
I hope they don't tie the live action into this very tightly (or at all). I don't watch anime and most of the Predator fans that I know don't watch it either.
They could be setting themselves up for a Less than stellar continuation in live action if a portion of the audience feels like they've missed part of the story because they don't watch anime.
Marvel has been hit and miss on this aspect as well, which may be part of what's hurting their box office.
The Wheel Of Time Season 4 Gets Definitive Update After Prime Video Cancellation
As always, be careful what you wish for. If companies had to commit to a minimum of three or five years before starting the production of a series we would have far far less content.
This is already happening with the rings of power series. It's probably not doing much better than Wheel of Time ratings wise but they've committed so many hundreds of millions of dollars to that series, regardless of whether it's good or bad, regardless of whether anyone watches it or not just to get the rights to make it.
That commitment is probably part of the reason that Wheel of Time got cancelled instead of the Rings of power.
The Wheel Of Time Season 4 Gets Definitive Update After Prime Video Cancellation
They'll probably end up making a movie to tie up some loose ends like they did with Firefly. Same with the Mandalorian. If you want to watch it, they will gouge you 20 bucks per pair of eyeballs.
Streaming is becoming nothing more than a teaser reel for theatrical releases. Maybe that's destined to be its historical niche?
Welcome to the new normal.
Thunderbolts*'s Disappointing Box Office Marks The End Of An Era For Marvel Studios
They certainly could have cashed in for a hundred million more with a title like
The New Avengers, but it would have been a lie.
Cap'n America is not leading the team in T'bolts. Just like Black Widow was a prequel to T'bolts, T'bolts is a PREQUEL to The New Avengers. Unfortunately, the New Avengers team is very meh. I don't think a name change is going to promote them to prominence.
Can't believe they didn't at least include Spiderguy. That would have been worth at least 50 million more. But no.
The problem now with releasing all of these lackluster prequels that no one cares about, is that the next Avengers tent pole will suffer accordingly. The only reason I can even think about paying to see FF4 is because Downey is in it. That's not enough to drive me to the theater, but he might be able to single handedly carry FF4 to success. If FF4 fails, then I'd say this entire phase fails.
They better be praying that when people stream New World Order and T'bolts that they fall in love with the cast and story. Keep praying hard Marvel!
Most people will be interested in Spidey 4. But all the rest of this, we'll have to wait and see. I just hope that all of this lackluster content they are producing now will not too negatively impact the movies people actually want to see, like Spidey and Deadpool.
Is Thunderbolts* A Box Office Disappointment, Or The New Normal For The MCU?
Fortunately for you, you don't live in the same multi-verse as everyone else. Enjoy!
Is Thunderbolts* A Box Office Disappointment, Or The New Normal For The MCU?
I think it is a bit early to know if this is the new normal.
I didn't see either BNW or TBolt. But definitely up for the next Spiderguy movie and more Deadpool n Wolverine! More more more!
I suppose, it just depends whether Marvel makes what people want to see OR what Marvel wants to make. Lately, it's been much more if the latter.
The true test, I suppose is whether they can get lightning to strike twice with a compelling cast as they did in Avengers. So far, I'm not seeing it.
Mackie was a good basis for a new Avengers team but IMHO, they dropped the ball on T'bolts casting, which doesn't bode well for The New Avengers legacy. I might be wrong, but box office receipts seem to bear that out.
