Japan needs to start making characters older since an older audience is who is paying to watch anime globally that why Korean and Chinese shows are popular. People will still prefer Japanese anime but they do need be aware of some story plot lines that make some shows not exciting to watch. If the series has more dual male and female characters that are equally matched and not one guy or girl harem story things would go far.
