How did so many Jedi survive Order 66?

Alot of Jedi and Padawan that where not. Mention and got the message noot to return to the temple. Should be alot more jedi teachings going on in the galaxy that are not told... Jedi children that hav grown up. Hidden temples al over the galaxy.
