In the second trilogy of Drizzet I got the impression that the culture is heavily influenced by the evil and jealous spider goddess. It's like play ball or die.
It's fairly standard cannon that gods interact with mortals frequently. Sending messages through prists and oricals.
But if the spider goddess were vanquished by some heros or other god. Then the drow culture could change.
