This is far from the first time this has happened. Shuster and Seigel sold the rights to Superman to DC, which at the time was owned by National Periodics for $130. They tried to sue in 1946, but the courts ruled that DC had legitimately bought the rights to the character. DC then purchased the rights to Superboy for $94,000 and a letter from the pair acknowledging the ownership. After that, DC dropped the created by byline. In 1975, and with the Superman movie (with Christopher Reeve as Superman) being released in 1976, Seigel launched a campaign, which Shuster was part of. The subsequent negative forced Warner to re-instate the byline. They also agreed to a lifetime stipend of $20,000 a year. Despite the stipend, Shuster was in debt to $20,000 at the time of his death. DC agreed to pay off his debts. This current lawsuit is about greed. Nothing more. I'm surprised it's not affecting the comics.

A couple things. First, the reason why Superman and Lois have two kids is based on what Clark says at the beginning of Crisis On Infinite Earths. He tells Lois that he envisioned them being on earth with two kids. When the universe was remade, they had two children. Second, Nora did survive, as was seen in the final season of The Flash.
