The one biggest complaint/problem that I had with How I Met Your Mother was the decision to make John Lithgow Barney's biological father. The creators missed the perfect opportunity to tie the show to a past comedy classic by not choosing John Larroquette and making Night Court's Dan Fielding Barney's biological father. The similarities to the two characters and the fact that they both live in New York City would have created the possibilities for great camel's.
