See All9 Popular '80s & '90s Kids Books That Have Aged Poorly
These beautiful books represent ideas and thoughts of the time. Don’t erase history. As a teacher while reading these books, I would stop and discuss with my children how we do things now. Another thing I would like to point out is the spine of the book and show that this is fiction. It is a made up story. Then, I’d discuss fantasy and reality with my kids. We would talk about imagination and work on building theirs without videos. The pictures books are usually focused on ONE idea, if the author focuses on more than one, it would be a chapter book. Rainbow Fish focuses on sharing. Read Millie Fierce if you want to discuss boundaries. I am so sick and tired of the idea that if you don’t like it, than I better not like it.
