My Threads(1094)

The Man In My Basement teaser trailer is terrifying enough, we don't need a full trailer.

The Man In My Basement teaser trailer offers more than enough of the story to have me super intrigued. As someone who did not read the book, I have no idea what is happening, but I cannot wait to find out. Willem Dafoe is perfectly creepy, and I would probably take his money too if he offered to pay me that much a day, but something is clearly not right here. I worry that a full trailer will reveal too much and take away from the surprises, so if Hulu releases one, I will skip watching it so that I can go into the movie knowing next to nothing about it.

Kiss of the Spider Woman is not at all what I expected it to be, but after that trailer, I cannot wait to see it.

With a title like Kiss of the Spider Woman, I expected the film to be a horror movie. I knew nothing about it at all going into the trailer, which seems to prove that this is absolutely not the case. That said, it drew me in, and now it is one of my most anticipated movies for the second half of the year. Diego Luna is always incredible, as he is insanely talented, so surely he will be amazing in this movie, and Jennifer Lopez sure can sing. Something about the cuts between the musical (which must be in the main character's head) and the devastating life they are living has me very, very intrigued. I cannot wait.

Tom Felton reprising his role of Draco Malfoy is a dream come true.

Tom Felton has announced that he is reprising his role as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway and I could not be any more excited. Felton is incredible in the role, and I am very excited to see him revisit this character at a much different point in his life. This version of Draco is a father and even gets along with Harry Potter. They have some touching moments together that I just know Felton will nail. Hopefully I can get out to New York to see it.

What is the most underrated 2025 movie so far?

This year is just about half over, and it has already given us so many great movies. There have been major box office hits, like Disney's Lilo & Stitch live-action remake, and incredible movies that completely flew under the radar, like Companion. Marvel's Thunderbolts* is a fantastic movie. A return to form for Marvel that not only feels grounded, but is unafraid to explore mental health in a way that needs to be seen on the big screen. Unfortunately, it is considered a box office flop, not earning enough to make its budget back, which seems ridiculous to me. But if I had to pick the most underrated movie, it would be Companion. This original horror movie is phenomenal. It has great lead performances from Jack Quaid and Sophie Thatcher, an intriguing and relatable story, and is an absolute blast. I hate that people slept on it.

What is the best 2025 horror movie so far?

There have already been some truly incredible horror films released in 2025, with another one right around the corner. As we approach the release of 28 Years Later, I started thinking about all the amazing horrors that we have had so far this year. From Companion (which too many people slept on), to Drop, to the newly released Bring Her Back, fans of horror have been eating good (no pun intended if you have seen Bring Her Back). As much as I love all of these movies, it is Sinners that immediately comes to mind as the best so far. It is a genre-bending, brilliant film packed with unforgettable performances.

Blumhouse is working on a Ma sequel, and I am thrilled about it.

Blumhouse announced this morning that they have a sequel in the works for their 2019 horror film, Ma. Octavia Spencer is set to reprise her role as the terrifying Ma, and honestly, I cannot wait. Spencer is phenomenal in the first movie, and I am sure she will be just as good in the sequel. While we do not have any idea what the story is yet, I completely trust Blumhouse, as they often nail their follow-up films.

What is the best guilty pleasure reality TV show?

I love reality television because it is something I can turn my brain off and enjoy while watching. There isn't really anything to critique, although it is fun to yell at people making terrible decisions. While I really enjoy the competition shows, like The Challenge, my guilty pleasure lies in the dating series. There are lots of great ones, from Love Is Blind to the new show, Sneaky Links. However, Temptation Island has to be my favorite of the bunch. I simply do not understand going on a show and surrounding yourself, and your partner, with a bunch of hot singles. What do you think is going to happen? There is a reason not many couples make it out unscathed.

Be honest: Now that Taylor Swift owns her masters, which original songs did you go back to listening to?

Taylor Swift now officially owns all of her music. Every single thing she has ever written. For me, this news instantly meant guilt-free listening of Reputation, one of my favorite albums of hers. She wasn't wrong when she said that there was no way to improve it, not to mention, I understand not wanting to sing love songs about your ex over and over again. While I honestly do love every single Taylor's Version song, I have found myself listening to the original version of Better Than Revenge quite a bit since May 30th. I don't mind the lyric change, but I do prefer the original line.

Which Blumhouse sequel are you most looking forward to?

Blumhouse has three sequels coming out later this year: M3gan 2.0, Five Nights At Freddy's 2, and Black Phone 2. I can honestly say that I am looking forward to all three of them, and will absolutely be seeing them all in theaters. My kids are most looking forward to FNAF 2 because they are huge fans of the games, but I have to it that for me, it is M3gan 2.0. I really love the first film, it perfectly blends horror and comedy, and just adore Violet McGraw. I am also intrigued by the fact that M3gan is now friend not foe.

All of Stranger Things Season 5 just barely squeezing into 2025 doesn't surprise me.

At Netflix's TUDUM 2025 event, some of the cast of Stranger Things came on stage to show fans some of their favorite clips from throughout the years, as well as announce the release dates for the parts of Season 5. It was crazy to see just how young they all were when this first started, and fun to take a walk down memory lane. The release dates are pretty close together, essentially surrounding the holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. This is brilliant because it means that people are off of work and school and will have the time to invest in binging all three parts. When I saw that part 2 was releasing on Christmas, I thought for a second that the finale might not squeeze into this year, but Netflix was able to set it to release on New Year's Eve, so it just barely makes it. This is a brilliant way of making it not feel too long for fans, because even that one day change, making it 2026, makes it feel infinitely longer until we see the end of an era.

What was the most exciting trailer to come out of Netflix's TUDUM event?

Netflix's TUDUM 2025 this past weekend revealed a lot of exciting information. We saw a bunch of trailers and finally got some highly anticipated release dates. Not to mention, a whole lot of talented people showed up in the same room to promote their respective projects. While I cannot wait for Squid Game Season 3, and I am eagerly awaiting the end of Stranger Things (I hope no one else dies, although I am sure that is wishful thinking), it is One Piece Season 2 that has me the most excited because of one character - Tony Tony Chopper. I love Chopper and after the look we got of him in action, it is clear that he is going to translate to live-action beautifully.

I am so hyped for Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein after that teaser trailer.

Guillermo del Toro ittedly has been obsessed with the story of Frankenstein for some time, so for him to finally be able to channel his ion into a movie telling that story is extremely exciting as a big fan of his. He is a visionary master, there is no doubt about that. I know that he is going to nail this movie already, but after watching the teaser that was released during TUDUM, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind. I truly cannot wait. From the casting choices, to the aesthetic, this one will be great. I just know it.

What is the most disturbing part of Bring Her Back?

As a parent, the entire premise of Bring Her Back is disturbing, but that just means I can connect with it on a deeper level. If something horrible happened to one of my children, I would like to say that I would never do anything as horrific as Sally Hawkins' Laura would, but I guess I would never truly know unless put in the situation. I absolutely love this movie, but I think the most disturbing part for me was the table scene. That is when I realized just how awful the situation with Ollie was - and I can't get that sound out of my head. Not sure if I ever will.

What is the one thing Phineas and Ferb Season 5 has to do to be a success?

Phineas and Ferb Season 5 is premiering on the Disney Channel soon and many fans are thrilled to see this beloved series return. But because it is so beloved, there is a lot of pressure on the creative team to get it right. Thankfully, the original creators and voice cast have returned, which is sure to help things feel seamless. One of the things that must be done in order for this new season to be a success is that the show not only captures the same feel of the first four seasons, but the songs must be catchy and meta and fun, as well.

Is Bring Her Back set in the same universe as Talk To Me?

While it hasn't been officially confirmed, there are a lot of hints that Bring Her Back is set in the same universe as the Philippou Brothers' first film, Talk To Me. Both movies involve the occult. Both deal with a deep exploration of grief and mental health, as well. It would make perfect sense to me that the two co-exist in the same world, and that a sequel to Talk To Me will be the one to confirm this by merging details from both films.

Is Bring Her Back worth seeing in theaters?

If you loved the film Talk To Me, then you absolutely MUST see the latest project from the Philippou brothers, Bring Her Back. Another story from their twisted minds that will have you squirming in your seats, this movie also explores grief and the things that we would do to see our loved ones again after they . As a parent, this one hit me especially hard as I found myself wondering just how far I would go to bring my own children back into this world. A truly terrifying and grotesque movie that has a lot to say, boasts some truly stellar performances, and a lot of hard-to-watch scenes. If you are a horror buff, I highly recommend seeing this one on the big screen in a packed theater!

Is Wes Anderson's The Phoenician Scheme worth watching in theaters?

Wes Anderson's The Phoenician Scheme features one of the best performances by Benicio del Toro that I have ever seen. While his last few films have not been widely loved by fans, I have rather enjoyed them. Because of del Toro's performance, as well as Michael Cera's, The Phoenician Scheme has skyrocketed to the top of the list of recent Anderson films for me. This movie is star-studded, per usual, and delivers on Anderson's signature look, but it also explores themes of nature versus nurture in a very entertaining way. If it is playing at a theater near you, and you dig Anderson's style, I highly recommend checking it out.

Does Taylor Swift buying back her masters mean there will be no more Taylor's Version rerecordings?

Taylor Swift officially owns all of her music, photos, and videos - which is an insane statement to say as you would expect that she would own her creations anyways. After buying back her masters, which she announced today, there is a solid chance that this will end the rerecords meaning Reputation (Taylor's Version) will likely never happen. In a letter to her fans, she itted that she has yet to record more than a quarter of that album, as it was proving the hardest of the six to improve. Although, she did tease that she has some great vault tracks for us. I think if she is going to do another Taylor's Version, it will be Debut, which she claims to have finished recording already.

What is the most exciting announcement that will come out of Netflix's live TUDUM event?

Netflix's live event, TUDUM, is sure to have a lot of great announcements. From information on Wednesday season 2, to Stranger Things season 5, to Happy Gilmore 2, there are a lot of exciting projects on their slate. While I am genuinely on the edge of my seat about all of their projects, I am most excited to hear news about One Piece Season 2. I love the first season, so I am hoping that they show some footage. Fingers crossed.

Why is Marvel skipping SDCC 2025?

It has been revealed that Marvel will not be at San Diego Comic-Con this year, which honestly does not surprise me. The Fantastic Four: First Steps comes to theaters the week of SDCC, so I could see them doing a special surprise screening of that, but after such a big last year, there really is no reason for them to invest money, time, and effort into doing one this year.
