K, what about CW's Sherlock & Daughter - another show without Watson directly? But, Sherlock got company. And people love it - because even though his companion is equally important like him, still Sherlock is the boss. But, the companion doesn't mind it - she contributes her way. People switch sides between them. Elementary doesn't feel like that.
