Yavin was unknown to GE before end of ANH. It was important when it was a secret, the secret was out and one Death Star with a known critical flaw is easier to destroy with a few dozen snub fighters than 100 ISDs. ESB starcrawl takes nothing away from the original importance of Yavin. Yavin was compromised. It's historical importance did not fade, but it's one main defense did- secrecy, much like was about to happen to Hoth Base.
