That's quite a rant. Everyone seems to miss the psychological aspect of Costner's character in Open Range. Too busy obsessing over him as their heartthrob or pet hate or the tall poppy to bring down, I suppose. He plays it so well that it is done with a twitch of his face, a set of his shoulders, a blanking of his eyes. If you let yourself be immersed in the movie you will feel it, if you have to look for these things you will miss most of the underlying story of a man acting against his wishes as he repairs the emotional damage caused by years of a bloody guerrilla role in the Civil War while trying to keep the emotions of a new love separate and unsullied.

Costner will get there. This is something ingrained in him now.

And he did NOT mortgage his house. He mortgaged a 10 acre vacant block of land next door to it, land upon which he has plans to build his final home.

The point of this article? Another opportunity to bouth anything at all that might reflect on Costner, I suppose. You do know it's fantasy, don't you? The characters will do what is written for them and it is not written in the great cosmos but on a laptop.

If Costner owns the right to The Bodyguard, what is his place in this? If it is even factual. Would have thought that WB is not his favourite company at present.

Story of Bodyguard and the Oscars and Razzies makes me wonder why anyone bothers with awards presentations any longer. Seems something has always been going on that is to do with agendas and personalities and not with whether movies fulfil their aim of filling theatres.
