They missed some basics that were in earlier editions. This should be a well thought out step forward. We should not be looking at OSR as being a superior game play experience 🙅♂
We can't keep applauding WOTC for making small improvements to a big investment that, should we follow it, means re-training some players that are not finding the new rules organic to roleplay.
In fact they are better combat rules and should be a separate edition.

Id recommend reading publicly available rules before you buy it.
I'm just thinking of recent experiences with new players. The 2024 rules are actually more confusing for newbies in my experience.

After 5e, Old-School D&D Now Means The Opposite Of What It Used To
You really need to keep up with the latest interviews with Mike Mearls. He literally stated that 4e was designed to appeal to early WOW players.
5e is what it needed to be - accessible to new players, leaving 3.5 and PF1 to those who enjoy a lot more customisation.
6e? It's a mess. There is so much flavour stripped out to appease a far too vocal minority.
It's an apologist's dream and I predict it will stall as the company never really showed the fans a reasonable level of respect after the OGL debacle.
DnD has always thrived when it's honest. The quality of what's been pushed on us is getting worse since Spelljammer... what a waste of potential.
