The Naolin theory is a good one that I could get behind, because he's not a character we actually met or witnessed die. I could very well and suspect we will see him as a venin. Maybe even the leader of the venin.

My biggest problem was no one died. Throughout TVD and TO a lot of seemingly important characters died and while some came back, a lot didn't. Lexi, Vicky, Sophie, Finn, Cami ETC. Where in Legacies no one of any importance died, even when a character left, such as Rafael and they had the chance to kill them, they didn't giving him some weird HEA. Also the villian never changed. The thing was annoyingly unbeatable.
