The classic Batman villain known as the Firefly (Garfield Lynns) was not an arsonist. He was a special effects technician who invented a holographic projection system that could cast realistic optical allusions. After DC rebooted it’s continuity in the late 1980s, Firefly was conflated with the later villain known as The Firebug (Joseph Rigger) a deranged war veteran who had used his demolition training to get revenge on owners of the unsafe apartment towers where his family had recently died in THREE separate accidents. After another continuity reboot, the crazed arsonist version of Firefly and Firebug ended up meeting and the latter was permanently injured, leaving only Garfield Lynns for Batman to be concerned about ever since.
