I agree with Sarah that the episodes in which Colter operates with a partner have been fun. His sidekicks have all been interesting and (mostly) likeable characters, and the duo dynamic breaks up what might become a tedious routine of our man working alone in each show. But I totally disagree that he needs a permanent constant partner. Let the show progress with occasional new or returning people in the field with him.
In my opinion, what the show most needs is more robust and meaningful dialog between the regular characters. It all seems so artificially clipped to me. I mean, I know that Colter is a brooder, and that Bobby is supposed to be mysterious, that Reenie is busy, but... Why don't Colter and Bobby joke around with each other a bit? Why don't the characters vent to each other? Maybe go out for drinks together, or have an office party?
I appreciate that Colter's family mystery will play out slowly, and that Bobby's disappearance will likely be a future plot line, that Reenie's involvement with the creep will go somewhere, etc. I don't mind some lack of exposition. But in the meantime, make the characters more three dimensional, and make their interactions more real-life-like.
