See AllDungeons & Dragons Has To Solve Its Controversial Drow Problem Before A Legend Of Drizzt TV Show Can Be Made
Personally, I would prefer for drow to retain their ebon skin as they are fictional characters. Noone bats an eye at Artemis Entreri's heritage being from Calimport/Calimshan which seems to be heavily influenced by Arabic culture. Does that make peoples from Arabic cultures inherently evil? OFC not! It's fiction!
I watching a D&D session with the cast of Baldur's Gate 3 which featured Drizzt and was, quite frankly, "put off" by Drizzt being depicted as a "purple-skinned drow! I haven't played D&D in a very, very long time, so I'm not up to date with the latest rules, but I can't help feeling that changing his skin colour after DECADES of having ebony skin is an insult to the integrity of the character.
