You're missing out, it's one of the best anime of all time. Of course this article is referencing a different adaptation than the legendary adaptation by David Productions. This article is mentioning the 90s adaptation. Highly recommend the new version

Naruto is genuinely one of the worst anime I've ever seen of the 500+ anime I've seen. I've never seen a show more over hyped and overrated thats carried by people's nostalgia for a show they watched when they were kids and haven't rewatched within the last 5-10 years

The "disrespecting" of that show saved it lol. It's the only reason it's even remotely relevant today. It would have faded into obscurity long ago if they hadn't had fun with the voice acting and created something unique and fun that can't be found anywhere else
