When Star first aired ...it was different from what the average grown person was used to. Although, I had a time "wrapping my " around Discovery, I knew it would be a different kind of "Trek"!! The advance setting is what threw me more than anything!! But I believe that they were a part of Section 31 some how!!!

Anyway, the crew did introduced themselves at the end of season 2, when Captain Pike took over the captain's chair and the mission!!!
