"Certainly"! It was a must that that line was left in the Movie. Michael honestly thought he was different from everyone else. He went to College, ed the Marines became a War Hero, how could he just be a common thug?? I must say that watching the change in his Character was PRICELESS!! He took us all along for the ride. I saw it in 1972 and even now all of these years later, it's a beautiful thing 💯

Number one we're talking about the 40's and 50's when a woman's place was in the home as well as The Mafia...they definitely didn't count! When it comes to Part 2 a lot of time had ed since The War therefore there was no need to talk about it. The reason there was no retaliation in Part 1 was because Michael had killed all of the Head's of The Five Families which left them in total disarray and no one wanted to go further because blood gets in the way of business and The Corleone Family left NYC.
