I thought the characters all acted in character/motivations. I can even excuse the impetuosity of the archaeologist as being a result of his faith/expectations/impetuosity.

Prometheus was marvelous. Some annoyingly unscientistlike behaviour, as in Covenant, to speed things along I guess. A lot of unanswered questions at the end of Prometheus, clues and answers were deliberately cut from the scene of David and the Engineer, probably as a commercial decision to prevent offending the beliefs of a lot of the USA audience.
