Actually, with Tasha's cauldron of everything, the racial ability score bonuses already didn't matter anymore because you could change them to whatever you wanted. Also, the new races have more powerful features to make up for the loss of them giving the ability score bonuses, so they actually keep about the same amount of uniqueness. I would argue that the new features actually make them more unique than the ability score bonuses did, because while other races could have the same ability score bonuses, like orc and goliath, the features they get are entirely unique to them.
