subscribers get access to a persistent library of games for no further cost than their annual subscription fees, all players - even those subscribed to the lowest Essential tier - get a handful of free titles each month, although the quality has varied in recent days.

But March is breaking the mold: the official PlayStation Blog has revealed that the three free PlayStation Plus games for March 2025 are Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Sonic Colors: Ultimate, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection. As always, these games are free to keep as long as the player stays subscribed to PS Plus. Although there are a couple of obvious big wins for PS Plus subscribers here, all three are excellent in their own right, making March 2025 one of the best months for PS Plus in recent memory.

March's PlayStation Plus Games, Explained

What To Check Out First?

All three games announced for PS Plus in March are worth checking out, and there's truly something here for every player. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a particular surprise, as it was one of 2024's biggest releases. A long-awaited sequel to BioWare's groundbreaking Dragon Age: Inquisition, Veilguard is an immersive action RPG set in a thoroughly detailed and beautiful world. Characters, companions, and story are highly variable based on the player's choices. Screen Rant's review of The Veilguard rated it 9/10, calling it "a heroic adventure worthy of the franchise."

Sonic Colors: Ultimate is a very different kind of game, but has its own charms. Sonic Colors was first released for the Wii and Nintendo DS in 2010 - this is the 2021 remaster coming to PS Plus. It's sort of a return to form for Sonic, who's the only playable character in this simple, colorful take on classically quick platforming gameplay. Screen Rant's review of Sonic Colors ranked it as "one of the best 3D entries in the series."

Finally, there's the TMNT Cowabunga Collection, an anthology of games starring the half-shelled heroes from throughout the franchise's golden age. It features 13 different games, including action platformers, 2D fighters, and, of course, the series of beat 'em ups the series is best known for. There's even online multiplayer functionality for players who want to enjoy co-op with friends around the world. Screen Rant's review of the Cowabunga Collection hailed it as "a worthy selection for TMNT fans looking to delve into the past."

One Of The Best Months For PS Plus

Sony Makes Up For A Lackluster Streak

Classic remasters like Sonic Colors and the Cowabunga Collection are pretty typical for PS Plus monthly games, but still represent a much-needed boost in the overall quality of titles offered on the service. Certainly a bigger surprise, though, is Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Released on October 31 - only a few months ago - it's almost shocking to see it on PS Plus so soon. For reference, Sonic Colors: Ultimate came out in 2021, and the Cowabunga Collection in 2022 - Veilguard is the newest PS Plus game we've seen in quite a while.

Compare that to January's PS Plus games weren't much better, headlined by Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, right before the end of its live-service update run. Overall, March looks like an incredible month for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
