Update 12.2 for Call of Duty: Warzone.

Respawning in the battle royale genre was popularized by Call of Duty: Warzone (despite first appearing in Apex Legends via Legendary Knockdown Shields), with its gulag system coming into play after a player dies their first time. After fighting for their lives against another dead Warzone player in the gulag, winning allows them to redeploy to the battlefield. PUBG does not have such a features just yet, but the Taego map is rumored to have a gulag mechanic. Now, it’s likely that traditional self-revive will arrive soon, too.

As spotted by self-revive mechanic coming in the new update.

While some solo players will be happy to get a self-revive function in PUBG, since it will alleviate the frustrations of playing alone, it’s likely to cause a stir among die-hard fans. PUBG is not Warzone or Apex Legends, and was originally pinned as a hardcore battle royale. Since it first gained popularity, PUBG has slowly grown more ridiculous and chaotic experience, but the hardcore gameplay was still prevalent. With a gulag and self-revive, that difficultly and reality involved in the battle royal disappears since players get additional opportunities in each match to avoid the consequences of death.

The developer has not confirmed how a self-revive function could work in the new PUBG update, but it seems straightforward enough to take a reasonable guess. The rarity of said item is anyone’s guess, and whether it will be exclusive to Taego is also unconfirmed. Players will have to wait until July 7 to try it out for themselves.
