Supermassive Games' interactive horror title 30 minutes of The Quarry gameplay, but players can also choose to embrace an entirely cinematic experience.

Like Until DawnThe Quarry will put players in control of a group of teenagers and task them with making split-second decisions in order to try and survive. The game's flexible narrative structure is capable of following the outcome of any situation, potentially making each player's playthrough different based on their unique choices during gameplay. Every character in The Quarry apparently has at least ten different ways to die, and the branching storyline will change the game's ending based on each deadly permutation. While Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology series follow this established formula, Supermassive Games has stated that The Quarry will have a lighter tone to set it apart from its predecessors.

An official announcement from Supermassive Games reveals that The Quarry will feature a Movie Mode that lets players watch instead of play. This unique mode will present players with certain choices right at the start of the experience, like whether each character should live or meet a brutal end. Choosing the Director's Chair option gives more in-depth control, letting players tweak certain aspects of each character like how they react to danger. After these choices are finalized The Quarry will play itself out as a cinematic horror thriller, allowing players to sit back and watch it like a film.

David Arquette looks on in the video game The Quarry

Befitting the game's Movie Mode option, The Quarry boasts a star-studded cast of big-name actors. The Quarry's cast of horror icons includes Scream star David Arquette, Jurassic World's Justice Smith, A Nightmare on Elm Street's Lin Shaye and Aliens star Lance Henriksen. The survival specialists are also ed by Modern Family star Ariel Winter and Dollface's Brenda Song. This large cast of professional actors is an excellent answer to Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology, which featured impressive talent like Rami Malek, Hayden Panettiere, Shawn Ashmore and Will Poulter.

Supermassive Games titles strive for a cinematic quality, and The Quarry's Movie Mode will take this quality to a new level. After a bit of preparation, this unique option will let players experience the game's bloody storyline without directly taking control of its characters. While many fans enjoy being part of the story, some gamers will no doubt enjoy The Quarry more from under the cover of a warm blanket.
