Jack Reacher is used to fighting against trained soldiers and mercenaries, but he is forced to instead take down a few bullies in episodes of Reacher season 3, Reacher does all kinds of jobs for Beck. However, in the third episode, he is asked to take Richard, Zachary's son, into town.
While Zachary Beck is clearly involved with some bad people, Richard is innocent. So far in season 3, Reacher has actually made an effort to connect with Richard. Reacher realizes that he can potentially get more information about Zachary Beck and potentially even Quinn from Richard, but also genuinely wants the best for him. Reacher and Richard even have a heart-to-heart in, during which Reacher encourages him to leave his father. However, before this conversation takes place, Reacher is forced to fight several bullies in Reacher season 3, episode 3.
Reacher Beating Up The Bullies In Season 3 Is A Callback To His Own Backstory
Reacher Has Always Stood Up Against Bullies
While Richard is buying a birthday gift for his father, Reacher goes to the washroom, recognizing it as a good opportunity to update Susan. However, Richard finishes at the toy store before Reacher is done talking to Susan. Therefore, when Richard leaves the store, he is harassed by three kids who he went to high school with. One of the kids breaks the cap gun that Richard bought for his father, and is prepared to beat him up before Reacher steps in. In classic Reacher fashion, Reacher brutally beats up the three bullies.
It is in Reacher's nature to stand up for people who can't defend themselves.
It is no surprise that Reacher reacts so intensely when he sees Richard getting bullied by the other kids. Ever since he was a kid, he has been standing up to bullies. This scene in season 3, episode 3 is reminiscent of an ongoing storyline from Reacher season 1, during which a much younger Reacher stands up for a kid getting bullied. Reacher beating up the bullies ultimately ends up getting his dad in trouble, but season 1 of the series establishes that it is in Reacher's nature to stand up for people who can't defend themselves.
Reacher's Dislike Of Bullies Is A Core Trait Of His Character
Reacher Protects Innocent People Throughout The Series
In Reacher season 1, a young Reacher sticks to his code and refuses to apologize to the bully he beat up. Even though this had negative repercussions for the rest of his family, specifically his father, there was no way Reacher was ever going to apologize to the bully. As a child, Reacher's mom always told him that he has the strength of two normal boys, and insists that he will always use his strength to do the right thing. In every season of Reacher, we have seen him do just that.

Forget The Explosions, This Is Reacher Season 3's Most Visually Impressive Shot So Far
The first three episodes of Reacher season 3 feature some outstanding visuals and effects, but one impressive early tracking shot is above the rest.
Even now that he is an adult, Reacher's dislike of bullies is a core trait of his character. This is one of the reasons why he sticks up for the people of Margrave in season 1, and why he protects Richard against the bullies in season 3. Reacher is a very capable fighter, and he won't let any innocent people get bullied. This is why it was great to see him protect Richard against the bullies in Reacher season 3, episode 3.
