The Real World Homecoming: New Orleans ended its eight-episode run on Paramount+, garnering attention from the Critics Choice Real TV Awards, and Julie Stoffer ed Beth Stolarczyk on Instagram Live ahead of the ceremony. Julie revealed behind-the-scenes details about the show on June 12. The Real World: New Orleans premiered in 2000 on MTV, and featured seven strangers living in an iconic Belfort mansion.
Julie's MTV bio described her as a curious person who was brave, ionate, and ready to become a leader. She would later appear on five seasons of open containers were allowed in challenges.
In season 3, episode 6, "Spiritual Bying," Julie told the roommates, "...Because what I'm doing right now is publicly denouncing Mormonism, and this is a sin. Is it more grievous than murder? Is that what they say? This is the sin. It's not a sin, it's the sin. I've never come out as not being Mormon because of the gravity of it." One of her reasons for leaving the church was because "these religions are creating an unsafe world for someone like Danny." Danny Roberts openly identifies as LGBTQ+ and begrudgingly became the unofficial face of the repealed law, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," which would dishonorably discharge those in the military for being LGBTQ+.
Was Julie's Onscreen Behavior Problematic?
During the Homecoming season, Julie's dramatic behavior came off as manufactured and over-produced, which caused the other roommates to feel insecure around her. Melissa Beck confronted Julie's past actions early on, about negatively impacting her and Danny's speaking tours in the early Oughties, when Julie's agent sent letters to organizations which discredited them. Danny recently confirmed on Hot Takes & Deep Dives with Jess Rothschild that Julie's agent was her mom. The season ended with Kelley Wolf leaving the show early because she felt drained by the experience. However, in a recent Instagram post, she said that she left because she didn't feel safe around Julie. The entire cast was invited to the 4th Annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards. Nonetheless, it's unlikely that Julie will be anywhere near her former roommates, after what she said on Beth's Instagram Live while getting ready for the event.
Julie Knew She Was Going To Be The Villain
In the 51-minute Instagram Live, the famous The Challenge alum Beth applies her Eyelusion Lashes to Julie, as she gushes over her newfound social media fascination. At around the 14-minute mark, Julie gets the Cat Eye Night lashes on, and says to the camera, "Why didn't I wear these on Homecoming? Okay, let me tell yall a secret. All the girls on my Homecoming show had these things. And they were getting like people coming in to do it and the Botox and all the things. And I was like, the ugly girl in the corner just like, I don't have any needles or anything that fit. Extra lashes or anything. And I totally regret that now. 'Cause, look how gorgeous they look."
Reality star Julie from The Challenge also talked about her wardrobe for the promo photos, "They said I couldn't wear black. All the things I had, they vetoed. So they went out and bought me clothes, and I was not crazy about that outfit. First of all, it was really tight. And I knew why they picked that color. Cause they already told me that I was going to be the villain." The outfit in question may be the tight red tank top seen in many confessionals.
Julie Said John Brennan Encouraged Her To Social Media
Towards the end of the video, Jon Brennan ed Beth's Instagram Live from Panama City Beach. Before ing, Julie recalled that Jon urged her to get involved with social media, "Cause I had already done Homecoming. And he was like, 'Why aren't you on social media?' I'm like, 'Because I don't want to do that.' And then he made me it." Fans of The Real World can thank or onish Jon for adding more of The Challenge alum Julie's content to the world.
When Julie described Homecoming: Los Angeles as dramatic, Jon sarcastically retorted, "Wait. Wait. Wait. Was that New Orleans Julie saying we had a lot of drama?" Julie's response: "Listen! I was the only one that had drama on my season... I freaking carried that shit. Not cool. It's like I understood the assignment. You're on a television show b*tches." She then credits Jon's castmate David Edwards for setting the record straight about whether or not Jon used the n-word in their original season.
Julie Would Go Back To The Challenge
Julie would appear on another The Challenge installment if asked. Production dropped her from The Challenge: All-Stars season 1. At around the 23-minute mark, she said, "Let me tell you a story about All-Stars. They called Julie and Beth for All-Stars 1. I was on it. I had a plane ticket bought. I was going! And then at the last second... and it was heartbreaking. Cause obviously Beth is the bigger star, and she deserves a spot... But I think Aneesa got my spot. But that then burnt my toast because Aneesa's been on a million of these things. Like a bazillion of them. And I get it. Aneesa's a bigger star than me too."
If Julie does get on All-Stars 4 with Beth, she has a questionable plan, "And that's why we need to go back together. And here's what's gonna happen if we ever get in a Challenge. We're gonna take each other to the end, but we're not going to backstab each to her at the end. I'm just gonna split the money. Or give it to you." Beth chimed in RuPaul's Drag Race.
