Warning! Spoilers ahead for Future State: Gotham #11
In the latest issue of the newest iteration of the Joker has a reprogrammed army of deadly robots he's using to wreak pure havoc across the city.
Previous issues of Future State: Gotham have primarily followed Jason Todd's Red Hood who has become Peacekeeper-Red, working within the fascist system known as the Magistrate which has taken over Gotham and turned it into a police state where vigilantes are outlawed. With the original Batman believed to be dead and Nightwing leading a resistance movement with what's left of the Bat-Family, Jason is the man on the inside who's also begun a secret partnership with the Next Batman (Tim "Jace" Fox). As such, the duo's come together along with Jason's new protegé Hunter Panic to fight a new villain who's claimed the title of Joker.
In Future State: Gotham #11 from Dennis Culver and Geoffo, the New Joker has taken over the Magistrate's entire network, deploying his new Jokerbots in search of his next target: crime boss Tobias Whale. After teaming up with Harley Quinn, Jason Todd decides that he and Batman need to make a strategic retreat to get some backup and additional firepower against the Joker's forces. This takes the form of Red Hood securing his awesome new futuristic and transforming bike which essentially makes him DC's version of Optimus Prime.
While Jason mentions that he was hoping to add more modifications before debuting his new bike/power suit, there's no denying that it's pretty impressive as is, allowing him to take on the new (and incredibly strong) Joker directly. However, Red Hood's not the only one to get epic new armor. Likewise, the issue ends with the Next Batman getting an upgrade of his own with what looks to be the original Dark Knight's armor used to fight Superman in Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns.
Now, both heroes are amped up and ready to take on the majority of the new Joker's forces in the issues to come. The new power suits are certainly a game-changer which also helps prove the advancements in technology Gotham has seen despite the deeper darkness it's fallen into beyond the Gotham of the present (at least in this version of the future). Regardless, Red Hood rolling out as an "Autobot" is all sorts of fun and entertaining in this new issue from DC Comics.
