every Regular Show episode is built on nonsensical humor, the series never stopped being unpredictable. Things would escalate quickly in Regular Show, with most episodes going from Mordecai and Rigby doing their daily tasks to the park crew having to save the very fabric of reality.

Picking the weirdest Regular Show episodes is not easy, especially because, after a point, even the most nonsensical plotlines became business as usual for the Cartoon Network series. However, Regular Show season 6 managed to bend the rules of that universe even further with “Brilliant Century Duck Crisis Special,” a half-hour episode inspired by anime and Tokusatsu about giant robots made out of ducks and geese.

“Brilliant Century Duck Crisis Special” Is Regular Show’s Wildest Episode

Mechas Fighting In Outer Space Over Toy Deals

While “Brilliant Century Duck Crisis Special” was not Regular Show’s first episode featuring a battle between the Baby Ducks and the Geese, it took things to the next level. Serving as the conclusion of a storyline that began in season 2 with “A Bunch of Baby Ducks,” this special was a love letter to many things that inspired Regular Show. After Mordecai and Rigby refuse a toy deal to make action figures based on their mecha that is formed with the Baby Ducks, the toy company brings out the Full-Grown Geese and starts attacking the park.

“Brilliant Century Duck Crisis Special” references several anime and Tokusatsu series, including a Neon Genesis Evangelion-inspired intro.

What follows is one of the wildest, most creative episodes in Regular Show, with pretty much every character involved becoming part of a mecha and ing the battle. Mordecai and Rigby’s classic fusion form with the Baby Ducks is not powerful enough to defeat the Geese’s new form, which is other the rest of the park crew as well as some surprising characters have to fight too. It’s a hilarious half-hour special that combines everything that made Regular Show such a unique series.

No Other Episode Illustrates Regular Show Better Than “Brilliant Century Duck Crisis Special”

It Has Everything You Would Expect From A Regular Show Episode

The Ducks' Eggscellent mecha in Regular Show

From Mark Hamill's Skips saying “I’ve seen this before” to Mordecai and Rigby turning a peaceful day at the park into a space battle, “Brilliant Century Duck Crisis Special” is one of the quintessential Regular Show episodes. Although it makes a little more sense if you have seen the previous episodes featuring the Baby Ducks and the Geese, no amount of context can make it any less nonsensical – which makes it even better.
