A leaker has revealed potential release dates for the next two Capcom has something in store, no one seems to know what it is.
However, we may have received the most promidate in a long time, owing to a post by Resident Evil 9 in 2026, then Resident Evil 0 in 2027, and finally, Resident Evil - Code: Veronica in 2028. It's a bold prediction, though, as AestheticGamer points out, one subject to change based on the "whims of game dev." In a reply, they also express concern over a potential developer change on the RE0 team a few months ago, which may have impacted its development cycle. Just how reliable this information is, however, remains to be seen.
How Reliable Are These Leaks?
RE Remakes Could Go Either Way
It's always hard to definitively point to leaks as true or false, unless you have the same inside information as the leaker. That said, this does have a whiff of authenticity about it. It seems to match up with Capcom's strategy for Resident Evil in recent years, and it doesn't propose anything that sounds overtly unreasonable.
Besides that, AestheticGamer (formerly known as Dusk Golem) has a decent track record when it comes to RE leaks. It's their main focus as a leaker, and they were previously able to announce several aspects of Resident Evil Village before they were officially revealed by Capcom.

10 Hardest Resident Evil Boss Fights Of All Time, Ranked
Resident Evil started nearly 30 years ago, and in that time, there's been a ton of grotesque and brutally difficult boss fights to take down.
It's also worth noting that this isn't the only piece of information AestheticGamer has shared about RE9, either. They compiled a list of previous leaks in a second post on X this morning, where they discussed several details of its protagonist, setting, and role within the series.
This also coincides with recent rumors that a new (or remade) Resident Evil game could make a big showing at the Summer Game Fest. Capcom is a known partner of this year's SGF, so it'll clearly be showing something. Why not use one of the biggest stages of the year to make a big announcement?
Release Windows For New Resident Evil Games Make Sense
The Most Reasonable Leak Ever
To their credit, though, the most believable thing about these leaks is how realistic they sound. This isn't "RE9 is coming out tomorrow, and Code: Veronica will be shadowdropped next week" - it's one new game annually, the first of which doesn't even come out until next year. That's pretty consistent with Capcom's timing of recent RE releases, too. Since RE7, it's typically put out a game every year; a mainline title in 2017 and then again in 2021, with a handful of remakes in between, and only a couple of off years.
I think it makes perfect sense for Capcom to announce a brand-new game first, since it's been four years since the last one, and then to follow with a couple of remakes to fill the gap while it develops the next one. And since Capcom is avoiding an RE5 remake like the T-Virus, Code: Veronica and RE0 just make sense. It's hard to know exactly what's in store for Resident Evil next, but AestheticGamer's alleged leaks paint a realistic picture.
