Dimitrescu sisters in Resident Evil: Village.

Jill Valentine made her debut in the series' first entry Resident Evil in 1996. Establishing herself as the ‘Master of Unlocking’, Jill would have a much easier time navigating the horrors of Spencer Mansion with her trusty lock pick and standard issue firearm, whereas fellow co-star Chris Redfield was left with nothing but a knife in the game’s opening. Her penchant for survival would be the driving story element behind her standalone game, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, which followed Jill’s ‘last escape’ from the zombie-ridden Raccoon City. Amidst the ensuing zombie menace, Jill is hunted by the eponymous Nemesis, which the player would gradually learn to overcome as the game progressed. This iconic rivalry would later feature in other Resident Evil-related spinoffs, including the 2004 movie Resident Evil Apocalypse. Both Jill and Nemesis star in Dead by Daylight’s Resident Evil crossover.

Resident Evil actress Nicole Tompkins revealed via Twitter that she had unofficially reprised her role as Jill Valentine in a stunning cosplay video. Made by photographer Martin Wong, the video stars Tompkins fully geared up as Jill from the remake of Resident Evil 3, skulking tensely against the back alleys. In the background echoes Jill’s opening monologue from RE3 performed by Tompkins herself. As one expected from one so dedicated to the role, Tompkin’s outfit is incredibly accurate and features an array of accessories, including a realistic firearm, weapon holster, utility belt, and a finely detailed Raccoon City Police badge.

Nicole Tompkins Reprises Resident Evil Role As Jill Valentine

Despite how integral Jill Valentine has been to the earlier entries, she has yet to have a substantial role since Resident Evil 5. With Resident Evil costar Chris Redfield already appearing in newer entries, one wonders if the Resident Evil 9 will see Jill Valentine return in some fashion. With the Resident Evil 3 remake refreshing the character for modern audiences and the Winters family saga seemingly wrapped up, the future 9th entry may be the best time for her to come off the bench. If so, hopefully, this cosplay video will prove to Capcom that Nicole Tompkins is ready to go.

Having such ion for her role as Jill in Resident Evil, it’s little wonder that Nicole Tompkins’ cosplay comes off so naturally. If Jill should appear in future Resident Evil installments, it's possible that Tompkins may wish to return for that role. Having already proven herself in multiple roles across the Resident Evil series, it would be interesting to see her take on a new version of Jill after her original performance in the Resident Evil 3 remake. In any case, here's hoping that Resident Evil will see the return of the 'Master of Unlocking' and Nicole Tompkins very soon.
