Capcom has released concept art of the Resident Evil 3 remake launched in 2020, bringing Jill Valentine's solo outing in Raccoon City to modern systems.
While Jill was the main character of Resident Evil 3, Nemesis was the breakout character. Nemesis is one of the Tyrant-class monsters created by the Umbrella Corporation and is one of the most fearsome foes players face in the series. In Resident Evil 3, he was dispatched to Raccoon City to take care of the remaining S.T.A.R.S who survived the Spencer Mansion incident from the original Resident Evil. In Resident Evil 3, Jill not only has to survive the zombie apocalypse that is happening in Raccoon City, but she must avoid the monster, which follows her at every turn. Nemesis was a hit with the fans, appearing in several Resident Evil crossovers, including the Marvel vs. Capcom series, and as a killer in Dead by Daylight.
The official RE_Games Twitter has shared early concept art for Resident Evil 3, showing different ideas for the creation of Nemesis, as well as one of its encounters with Jill. The images, while rough, show the terrifying process that went into building the iconic villain and offer a look into Capcom's creative process. The final opening cutscene for Resident Evil 3 remake appears to use many of the concept art ideas, with players shown clips of Nemesis laying in front of scientists as they inject various liquids into his body.
The concept art for the creation of Nemesis shows its naked form, which resembles an action figure that has been stitched together. Thankfully, Resident Evil 3 fans were spared the sight of a hyper-realistic, naked Nemesis, as he is covered in the full version of the game. The concept art also appears to show the gruesome aftermath of Nemesis killing his creators, while Umbrella executives watch from behind a screen. However, many of these details were missed in Resident Evil 3 remake due to the short length of the final cutscene, only featuring a few seconds of Nemesis' birth before it's shipped to Raccoon City.
Though it is likely many fans of the Resident Evil series have already given Resident Evil 3 remake a try, those who have yet to play it may want to wait before purchasing the game on older consoles. Recently, it was announced Resident Evil 3 remake will be one of the Resident Evil games receiving a current-gen upgrade. Because of this, Resident Evil 3 fans will be able to experience Nemesis in better detail, adding to the terror found in the survival-horror series.
