The original beta test for open beta for Resident Evil Village's multiplayer component went live last weekend for PC via Steam, PS4, and Xbox One s. However, server issues forced Capcom to repeatedly shut down the beta test, leading to the vast majority of interested players missing out on the experience.

Meant as a celebration of the franchise's 25-year history, Resident Evil RE:Verse offers a death match mode that allows players to assume the role of several iconic hulking monstrosity known as Nemesis. Fortunately, more players will get to try the mode for themselves starting tomorrow.

According to posts from the Resident Evil RE:Verse Twitter , Capcom plans to unleash a second beta test on April 14 at 3:00pm JST/2:00am EST. The additional beta will come to a close on April 16 during the same time frame. PS4 and Xbox One players who previously ed the beta client can expect to hop back in with no problem. Meanwhile, Steam players can even if they didn't take part in the first testing phase.

Here's to hoping the server issues that plagued the original beta won't once more wreak havoc on the forthcoming test. Resident Evil fans didn't seem too thrilled about what they played of RE:Verse last week, though. Players who managed to sink some time into the beta expressed disappointment in the gameplay and comic book-style filter, though s can switch off the latter. Others have voiced positive impressions, too, most notably thanks to a few PC mods.

Similar to RE: Resistance's relation to the Resident Evil 3 remake, RE:Verse will launch alongside RE Village. This latest online-centric venture is another attempt on Capcom's part to capitalize on the property's popularity by introducing a multiplayer component. Thus far, it seems as though the publisher may have another dud on its hands. Things could change in the months ahead, however.
