The Capcom to shut down the RE:Verse servers repeatedly, and the people who managed to actually play the game were left wanting more.

RE:Verse is a free-for-all deathmatch featuring the most famous of Resident Evil characters. Playing as one of six fan-favorite characters, horror enthusiasts can use a combination of powerful skills and unique weapons to get to the top of the leaderboard. Each human character has three abilities: two active abilities, and one ive. When a human is defeated, they turn into an incredibly strong bioweapon. It's possible to become anything from a lowly Molded to the infamous Tyrant. RE:Verse is focused on the power fantasy of playing as the strongest characters in the series, but not even fan service from the best games in the Resident Evil series can save it from the mostly negative reception its gotten from fans so far.

A majority of players who managed to squeeze in a few rounds of RE:Verse did not enjoy Resident Evil Village's multiplayer component. The Resident Evil subreddit r/residentevil for RE:Verse is filled with criticism. The most upvoted response makes fun of the matchmaking errors, saying only "SEARCHING FOR OPPONENTS...". Scrolling farther down, several comments say the game feels lazy and unsatisfying. Several posters are clamoring for a new mercenaries mode instead. Overall opinion is trending toward the negative side, but a few players appear to have enjoyed the test for what it was.

Fans' Complaints With RE:Verse's Issues Explained

RE Verse Bioweapon

Several players have found a multitude of issues that have impacted their experience. Many were excited to get an advanced look at RE:Verse before the showcase on April 15th, but the frequent server shutdowns caused many to feel dejected. Those who did get to play ran into a few unique issues. Twitter  @Sisslethecat found what can only be described as an odd design choice by Capcom. Jack Baker is one of the titular villains in Resident Evil 7, and is one of the playable bioweapons in RE:Verse. His iconic line "Welcome to the family, son" has been edited to abruptly cut off the ending of the quote. Players also took issue with the comic book filter that is on by default, but can be turned off.

How RE:Verse's Mods Make Multiplayer Better

Alix RE Verse low poly mod

Several modders are already hard at work adding new things to the multiplayer shooter. Twitter  awarding winning Untitled Goose Game, ZombieAlix has created a wonderful low-poly mod for the character models. The mod emulates the art style of the original Resident Evil games, and invokes a sweet sense of nostalgia. The low-poly mod is but one of their works: They've also made a mod that replaces a few of the humans and bioweapons with characters from the multiplayer horror experience Dead by Daylight. Several mods are also out for the bioweapons, which allow for some cool crossovers with other franchises.

Resident Evil: RE:Verse has been met with a lot of criticism, but it's not all doom and gloom. Several tech savvy fans are trying to make interesting mods in hopes of making things feel more unique. With continual updates and changes, it's possible that Capcom can turn public opinion around and make fans happy to hop into the RE:Verse multiplayer experience.
