Ahead of Friday's release of Resident Evil Village, a new launch trailer has been shared online. The trailer is short, but still offers up the same sinister and haunting tone that the series is famed for.

Resident Evil Village will follow on with the story of Ethan Winters, as he and his wife Mia try and move forward from the harrowing events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The couple is now living a seemingly happy life with their new-born baby, Rose. At least, that is until series regular and Resident Evil 5 star Chris Redfield returns and throws their sedate life together back into chaos.

With less than 24 hours to go before Resident Evil Village is officially released, a new launch trailer has been revealed online. This trailer, shared on mysterious Mother Miranda, seeks to appease Ethan, telling him “there is nothing to fear” and to “rest now.” While these may seem to be words of comfort, they are laced with foreboding.

While this trailer does not reveal much in of story, it still offers yet another enticing taster of the horrors to come. The reviews of Resident Evil Village have already flooded in, and overall, there is high praise for Capcom’s latest instalment to the series. Many have lauded the title’s return to the action-packed survival experience of Resident Evil 4, as well as its incredible set pieces. Screen Rant’s own review of Resident Evil Village hailed the tense tone that Capcom has managed to build during the game.

Even before Resident Evil Village has released, there are already rumors that Capcom has started work on Resident Evil 9, with Village acting as the middle instalment to a trilogy. If these rumors turn out to be true, there is every chance that Resident Evil Village will end on a cliff-hanger, to set up the future of the series. Thankfully, there is not too much longer to wait to see just how the events of Village will play out, and whether Ethan will finally find the answers that he is so desperately searching for.
