The new trailer for Rick and Morty season 7 ended with Morty (Harry Belden) having realized he doesn't need to centralize himself around his grandfather all the time, while still being willing to go on more adventures with him. There are also plenty of cliffhangers season 7 left, such as Mr. Poopybutthole replacing an alternate version of himself, and a continued storyline involving Evil Morty.
Now, Adult Swim has released the new trailer for Rick and Morty season 8, showcasing the many unique sci-fi adventures the pair will be going on in future episodes. Highlights include futuristic-looking soldiers with Christian-themed armor and weapons, a flying car chase sequence, Jerry (Chris Parnell) getting trapped in a crystal by Rick (Ian Cardoni), and the return of Space Beth (Sarah Chalke). She and Rick in particular appear to be fighting a group of aliens for unknown reasons.
The Citadel also makes a surprise return, as other versions of the core cast are shown. More big moments in the trailer see a disheveled Jerry eating a head of lettuce in the fridge, Rick and Morty almost dying from debris in space, and the main pair getting trapped in a dimensional portal of some kind. The ending title splash reveals the show will be returning on Sunday, May 25 at 11 p.m. Check out the full trailer below:
What Rick & Morty Season 8's Trailer Means For The Show
It's Going To Continue Focusing On The Pair's Wild Adventures
Although season 7 offered potential setup for the core pair to have adventures where they aren't with each other, the trailer for Rick and Morty season 8 only partially touches on this idea. In particular, Rick appears to be doing something important with Space Beth, who is seemingly sick given how important her cough was in the trailer. What this means for her return is unclear, but it seems like she needs something that only the mad scientist can help her with.

Rick And Morty Season 8 Is Officially Bringing Back An Underrated Duo I Want To See More Of
Rick and Morty season 8's renewed focus on two major ing stars is interesting news that could complicate one main character's redemption.
The Citadel is another big surprise, since it was previously destroyed in season 5, episode 10, "Rickmurai Jack." Its return, alongside that of more Rick and Morty variants, signals a multiversal effort might have gone into reviving the city-state. As for how this ties into the larger story, it's possible it has connections to whatever Evil Morty decides to do next, with his storyline no doubt getting pushed forward as the season continues. Beyond this, though, it's clear plenty of wild adventures are in store for the cast of Rick and Morty as the season presses onward.
