The Rock's movie career started off a bit rocky, with more misses than hits. Still, that never seemed to hurt his personal appeal in the eyes of the masses, which had first been cultivated during his career as a top wrestling star for WWE. It's likely this personal charm helped sustain Johnson through his early struggles.

However, there's one arena The Rock has never been brave enough to enter, at least not fully, and that's the horror genre. While Johnson did appear in 2005's Doom movie, it's hard to really count that, as not only was it a critical and commercial disaster, but it was also way before he'd managed to really become the star he is today. It's about time for The Rock to drop The People's Elbow on horror.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Needs to Star in a Horror Film
While Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has starred in quite a few popular films at this point, and even managed to revitalize the Jumanji. No one has accused Johnson of being Daniel Day Lewis, but he's by no means a bad actor, and has charisma to spare. This could be put to great use in a horror film, either on the good or bad side of the fence.
The Rock's already proven adept at being a hero, and would likely make a terrific monster slayer in the style of Evil Dead's Ash. Instead of using his fighting skills against terrorists and criminals, he could slap around demons and slashers. Or, Johnson could stretch his range and play against type as a man under siege by terrifying supernatural forces. Seeing a man with Johnson's build and public image showing fear could be a revelation as far as his acting career goes. Another possibility, and perhaps the best one, is The Rock playing a horror villain. Johnson has rarely played a bad guy at all, and seeing an imposing person of his size and strength playing the object of fear in a horror film could be amazing. Could anyone escape the wrath of The Rock? Horror fans need to find out.
