Marvel Comics recently announced a new X-Men limited series starring the iconic mutant couple of Gambit and Rogue, aptly titled Rogue & Gambit, that will be the second volume of the series after its first 2018 limited run.

While both Rogue and Gambit have been individually highlighted throughout the Krakoan Era in titles such as X-Men, Excalibur, and Knights of X, it has been several years since their romantic and superhero partnership has been in the spotlight, so fans of the iconic couple are sure to be happy about this announcement. After the pair's out-of-the-blue marriage (which happened in place of Piotr and Kate Pryde's failed nuptials) they were featured in the popular Mr. and Mrs. X series, and it seems as though Rogue & Gambit Vol. 2 will similarly mark a new stage for the incredibly powerful couple.

The announcement by Marvel Entertainment at NYCC's Women of Marvel came with remarkably little information about the limited series, with Rogue & Gambit's creative team being revealed—writer Stephanie Phillips and artist Carlos Gomez. The gorgeous cover for the first issue by Steve Morris was also revealed. Besides the Destiny will play a role in the series is exciting, seeing as she historically has been shown to hate Gambit, thinking that he is a horrible person and not a fit partner for her daughter, meaning there will hopefully be a bunch of fun family tension in the series!

Rogue & Gambit Are Fighting Back-To-Back Once Again

Rogue--Gambit-1-Cover-1

Since the founding of Krakoa, the X-Men's favorite couple has played significant roles in Krakoa's present and future but neither have had the singular attention that will be afforded to them in Rogue & Gambit. Rogue was a major part of Tini Howard's Excalibur, acting as confidant to the new Captain Britain and, at one point gaining blue skin after sucking the powers of En Sabah Nur. She later ed the first iteration of Cyclop's X-Men squad, taking down many enemies of Krakoa but always in a team setting. Gambit on the other hand was not a major player in Krakoan politics for much of it's beginning, although he did take on a role in Excalibur, but it was not until Tini Howard's recently-concluded Knights of X limited series that Gambit was, once again, highlighted. Although it was teased that Gambit was going to go through a big change after his "death," he was returned to his status quo, meaning Rogue & Gambit should hopefully feature some fresh and exciting developments for the character.

Both Rogue and Gambit are beloved Marvel superheroes in their own right, but take on an epic life of their own when they battle and grow together as an adorable married X-Men couple, meaning that the iconic couple's newest series may be just what these two mutants needed to revitalize their stories in the Krakoan Era.
